I hope that doesn't happen to us. [ he knows Sunny likes this place (a bit more than his home, at least) and kaneki does too ] We still have each other to rely on.

When he speaks, Kaneki lifts his head from a book he was reading, blinking ] Ah- Sunny. hello. [ kaneki will say hello!!! he also smiles wider and shakes his head ]

I'm not sure if it's important. It's just something I found. [ kaneki pats the seat next to kaneki's so he can sit down ] I was reading about this place and forms of connection between two people here, and found something that sounds interesting.

[ a pause. Kaneki realizes it might also be... well, embarrassing. Kind of. A bit?? ]

[ Getting Sunny is kind of a mixed bag for Junpei. On the one hand, he actually knows Sunny, so it's a little easier to put together a gift than it would have been for a stranger.

On the other, he likes Sunny, and so really agonizes over the perfect gift to give him so as not to let him down.

At some point there will be a whole basket of small presents at Sunny's home, tied up pretty with red and green bows. Inside of the basket is a large sketch book of vellum Bristol paper, alcohol markers in a rainbow of colors, some white gel pens for doing cool highlights ... and candy. So many different kinds of candy. He realized he had no idea what type of candy Sunny might like, but that the odds were good he'd at least like something if he got a variety. There's gummies, licorice, chocolate, those wax bottle things, and even pixie sticks. There's a little handwritten note:

Please don't eat it all in one night. At least try and make it last until February.

I hope the coming year brings lots of inspiration and even more new friends. - Secret Snowflake. ]
