[ Funnily enough, Sunny is completely unaware it’s his birthday. When he turned 13, he knew, and 14.. he knew too. But as he kept aging and feeling more ill, the more times and days started to blur together and the more he forgot what day it was and didn’t care to notice. Especially with all the shock of arriving here and turning into a monster, he especially had forgotten the date.
He’s been on his laptop, either in bed or on a small computer desk in his apartment with Shoyo. He’s online quite a bit since he has nothing better to do.
When he reads who is messaging him, he swallows thickly. Basil seemed to act non threatening at Shoyo’s party.. it was just.. weird. He didn’t really want to continue his friendship with Basil, but deep down.. he missed Basil so much.
[After sending that message, Basil had closed his laptop and laid back down. He wasn't sure if he was going back to sleep, but...it made him nervous. Browsing the Network right now didn't feel like such a good idea.
But then he hears his laptop make a sound. A message returned.
His heart skips a beat and he sits bolt upright, yet he doesn't grab his laptop immediately. He stares at it for a long moment or two, like he's afraid of what he might see when he opens it back up.
[ The shock and awe of Basil being here and also being a monster has mostly subsided, but there's that nagging thing that is telling him to stay away from Basil; blot him out of his life and out of his memories.
And yet.. there as the kind words and thoughts associated with Basil that are nice. Did Sunny want to salvage those things at least? Once thing is certain, though, he does like birthday celebrations and he is curious about what the gift is.
It's a bit too blunt, but he just asks: ]

[ This sounds a bit more like curious and sweet Sunny like Basil remembers. ]
[It's such a...Sunny response that Basil actually smiles, and if he were alive currently, his heart would seize in his chest. Instead, he's sitting there feeling hollow and conflicted as he replies.]
I guess it wouldn't be too much of a surprise coming from me, huh?
It's a potted flower. I've been growing some here, so...I wanted to give you one. To brighten up your room, you know?
[ And this response is especially very Basil-like. Sunny still doesn't have a lot of confidence in regards to he and Basil's relationship right now, and neither does he have confidence in taking care of a flower. ]
It probably won't live long with me. Is that okay?
That's okay. As long as it brought you a little happiness, then it's done its job.
I accidentally burned a lot of my plants when I first changed, because I had fire powers I couldn't control. I don't think you could do worse than that.
[Sunny, being the sadistic little shit he is, can't help but stifle some laughter at Basil's words. Okay, that was the wrong time to laugh, but he's always kind of been like that. Just comes with his mentally ill package.
Surprisingly enough, he sends Basil his address (?!?! which means welfare check in the future!?!?) without any other words. ]
[An address. That's as direct a confirmation as any that Sunny is okay with Basil coming over. Whether that means just to drop the plant off, or...for more than that, Basil can't yet say. But just having this at all means a lot.
He says one last thing.]
I'll bring it over later today.
[That leaves things open-ended enough. If Sunny doesn't come to the door...then Basil won't force it, no matter how much he wants to talk.
Honestly, there's a part of him that feels plenty nervous about that possibility. A more selfish part that hopes that Sunny won't be able to find the courage, to put off the inevitable for just a bit longer...
The time passes quickly, as it often does. He doesn't want to be coming by too late...so after a couple hours, Basil takes the bus from the city's edge to the 38-8 Apartments, carefully holding a potted plant on his lap the entire way. The room in question isn't hard to find for him since he's been here on multiple occasions before, just not for a few months...and before he knows it, he's at Sunny's door.
He wonders, idly, if Shoyo is here too. Or is it just Sunny right now? He doesn't know.
