★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★

Skills:
Artist (???): Sunny has a sketchbook with.. some interesting artwork in it.
Musician (???): Sunny used to play the violin, and although he wasn't especially skilled at it, he still can read music and play at an intermediate level.
A Good Listener: Sunny's best friend, Basil, explains that although Sunny is shy, he is a good listener. Tell him all your problems. He won't tell a soul, but he probably won't say much either.
Sleeping: this bitch can out sleep anyone and being a waste of space is his specialty

Canon Abilities: Sunny is your average mortal human being without any abilities other than he can dissociate really damn well and use a steak knife for stabbing should he ever have to defend himself. Any combat experience he has is all in his head, but he won't hesitate should he find someone or something he wants to protect.
Role: Familiar.
Role Qualities/Attributes: A black cat, similar to the one that belonged to his sister. He'll have fangs, ears, whiskers, claws, tail, slitted eyes, rough tongue when maintaining only a few of the features. It's noted that Sunny is similar to Mewo in canon, so I'm deciding to actually make him look like her.
Role Reasoning:
Sunny is a very malleable protagonist. The game is very finicky with the decisions you make and how it can alter the story. You could definitely choose for Sunny to fit more into the Myth category or have him fit more into the Legend category depending on the choices you make. To me, this translates to his personality going either way. On top of that, it's pretty obvious that although he isn't a bad guy, his mind is a little disturbing where someone might would make that assumption about him if they knew his thought process.. even though most of the time he doesn't actively act on the darker thoughts he has, showing he has some kind of form of restraint (unless you pick the bad ending for him... which.. oof.)

★ Personality ★

  • What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?
Major Spoilers. OH BOY. WELL. When Sunny was 12 years old, he was given a violin that his friends purchased for him for Christmas. He practiced and played it, but couldn't quite play it as well as his sister, Mari, was expecting him to. Eventually, he was in a recital with his sister who played the piano, but he would get frustrated at himself for being unable to play it perfectly. On the day of their recital during his practice before the event, he loses his temper and throws the violin down the stairs, breaking it. He and Mari have an argument as siblings do, and when he shoves her, she also falls down the stairs, breaking her neck and killing her. Sunny's best friend, Basil, was also over at their house when the in incident happened, and in an attempt to save his friend from getting in trouble, he gets the idea to stage Mari's death as a suicide.. and that's how everyone remembers how Mari died.

As for Sunny, the event traumatized him so much, he blocked it out of his memory entirely, also believing that Mari committed suicide. From then on out, Sunny became a shut-in and refused to leave the house or really do anything. He spends all of his time indoors, interacting with nobody, but constantly spending time in his Headspace and remembering his friends and happy memories there. Another version of Sunny exists in his headspace, a character named Omori who is a version of 12 year old Sunny that constantly attempts to protect him by concealing the truth of Mari's death from him.

  • What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?
Sadly enough, the most important person in his life was his older sister, Mari, who was very close to him. She encouraged him to face his fears and do all sorts of new things. She was really the glue holding him and his friendship group together and everybody loved Mari. Second would probably be Aubrey & Kel, as they are reflected to be good friends in his headspace. In the real world, Kel is the one that eventually drags him out of being a shut in if the player chooses to do so, and Aubrey is the person he has a crush on before she grows up and changes. Hero would be the last person that is influential in his life, as he is seen to be someone charming and responsible in Sunny's headspace, showing how Sunny really perceives Hero. Lastly, Mari's cat, Mewo, was left in Sunny's care. The game never describes in detail what happened to her, but we all theorize there was an accident/she had to be put down/she ran away and now Sunny blames himself for it.

  • What does your character feel like they struggle with still? Where could they improve? This could be physically, mentally, emotionally, or otherwise.
Sunny needs.. therapy a lot of improvement. He is particular stubborn, which is why I wanted to app him into a game that will challenge him. Sunny has a plethora of phobias (heights, spiders, drowning, triggers from his traumatic event) and has been a shut in for four years, so he's still quite naive-minded and shy. Sunny won't be happy to face these challenges and improvement on his own, but I'm hoping he will build CR with characters who will help him a long the way. He's a very depressed teenager. Making friends in and of itself can be a challenge too, but I'm here for the slowburn, baby. There is also the challenge of him within his own mind of unraveling the truth about his trauma and coming to terms with it.. or not and seeing what dark path he could go down.

  • What is your character's safespace? When do they feel the most settled and comfortable? When do they feel confident and relaxed?
It's interesting that this is a question, considering that Sunny has a quite literal safespace called White Space in his mind. Opening the door into his White Space takes him into a world of his own imagination.. and here is where he disconnects from reality for hours and hours, staying in his head where it's safe for him. White Space is quite bleak, but his Headspace and colorful and fun.. a world for himself that he's conjured up for himself. Headspace is filled with a bunch of colorful creatures, Sunny's perceptions of himself and his friends, and through some of the doors that he doesn't ever go through.. his fears, anxieties and trauma.

In reality, Sunny feels his safest when he's at home in and in his bed. When he's out and about, he feels confident when he's with his friends, especially if they show him the support he needs.
